BIS QCO for Textiles - High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)/ Polypropylene (PP)
The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals has issued an official notification for Textiles-High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)/ Polypropylene (PP) Woven Sacks for Packaging Fertilizers Indian Standard IS 9755:2021, covering HDPE/PP woven sacks for fertilizer packaging.
It distinguishes between 45 kg sacks for neem-coated urea and 50 kg sacks for other urea types, whether locally made or bulk-imported and repackaged.
The directive mandates compliance with IS 9755:2021 for both local and imported products, requiring them to bear the BIS standard mark under a BIS license (Scheme-I of Schedule-II in BIS Conformity Assessment Regulations 2018). This is governed by the Bureau of Indian Standards Act of 2016.
The adoption date is pending, with entry into force 180 days after publication in the Official Gazette. Comments are accepted for 60 days from the notification date.
