Important update regarding Indian Standard applicable to all existing Licence holders/ New applicants/ manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for the Acetic Acid Amendment Order (Quality Control), 2019.
BIS (Quality Control) Amendment Order for the Acetic Acid
OVERVIEW
The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has issued the Amendment Order "Acetic Acid (Quality Control) Order, 2019," set to come into effect on August 3, 2025.
Goods or articles falling under the category of Acetic Acid must adhere to the specified Indian Standard IS 695:1986 and bear the Standard Mark. Manufacturers are required to obtain a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-I of Schedule-II of BIS (Conformity Assessment) regulations, 2018.
It's important to note that this order does not apply to goods or articles, specifically Acetic Acid, meant for export, provided they meet the specifications required by the foreign buyer.
The Bureau of Indian Standards is designated as the primary authority to certify and enforce conformity to the Standard Mark under this order for Acetic Acid. .
Additionally, the District Industries Centre in the Department of Industries of the State Government will serve as an enforcing authority..
This regulatory measure aims to ensure the quality and conformity of Acetic Acid in the market, promoting standardized practices for the benefit of consumers and the chemical industry.
