BIS CERTIFICATION FOR ALLOYS USED IN ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE METALLIC HEATING ELEMENTS
IS 12045:1987

In this competitive scenario, it isn't easy to survive in the market without a standard quality and certified product. BIS license may also be required to sell products in the Indian market.

To get BIS certification and produce a standard quality product, the manufacturer must ensure that their product must follow the specified Indian standard.

Let's take a closer look at IS 12045:1987 for Alloys used in electrical resistance metallic heating elements.

This standard covers the requirements for nickel-chromium, nickel-chromium iron, and iron-chromium-aluminum alloys used as electrical resistance heating elements. The chemical composition and mechanical properties of the various types of alloys must be as specified in the standard.

The finished material must be supplied in its fully annealed state. The material shall be uniform and free from surface defects such as splits, kinks, laminations, sales, and other irregularities. The material must be tested to ensure that its chemical composition and mechanical properties are in accordance with the standard.

Packing and Marking:

Packing and marking must be done in accordance with IS 12045:1987. Each package of material must bear the manufacturer's name or trademark, the type of material, the cast number, the product dimension, the date of manufacture, and the net and gross weight. The standard mark (ISI Mark) may also be applied to the material.

Manufacturers must obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use a standard mark (ISI Mark). The Bureau grants a license based on a successful assessment of manufacturing infrastructure, production process, and quality control and testing capabilities during a visit to its manufacturing premises.
