New Indian Standard for Stainless steel pipes & tubes

A new standard for seamless and welded stainless steel pipe and tube is being developed by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). With the effort of the Indian stainless steel development association (ISSDA), the draft has been formulated for stainless steel pipe and tube.

Stainless steel pipe and tube will come under the mandatory certification list of BIS. BIS certification will be mandatory for manufacturers to use ISI mark on the stainless steel tube and pipe. The manufacturer will have to obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use a standard mark (ISI Mark).
