BIS is going to include sustainability requirements in Indian standards, for example, in steel standards, consumption of green hydrogen, green steel, reduction in CO2 emissions, proper coal utilization, decarburization of the industry, and so on. Similarly, any applicable sustainability requirements will be included in all other standards.
BIS is also contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals by incorporating sustainable requirements into their Indian standards. The Indian government is also working to improve industrialization, innovation, and infrastructure to increase global trade and meet SDG. India has a large open market for the world, and the Indian government encourages trade through FDI. This also contributes to the achievement of the SDGs.
