IS 7686:2020 covers 3(N, N-DiEthyl) Aminophenol. The Bureau of Indian Standards adopted this Indian Standard (First Revision) after the Petroleum, Coal, and Related Products Division Council approved the draft finalized by the Dye Intermediates Sectional Committee.

This standard specifies the requirements as well as the sampling and testing methods for 3 (N, N-DiEthyl) aminophenol. The intermediate 3 (N, N-DiEthyl) amino phenol (C10H15ON) is used in the production of dyestuffs.

The material must be a moist, white to light brown crystalline solid. The material shall be soluble in ether, alcohol, sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid. The material must also meet the requirements outlined in this standard. On each sample, tests for crystallizing point and assay must be performed.

TESTS

The following test shall be carried out in accordance with the method prescribed in this standard.

  • Test for 3 (N, N-diethyl) aminophenol
  • Salt content as sodium chloride ( NaCl )
  • Purity of 3(N, N-diethyl)aminophenol

Packing and Marking

Packing and marking shall be done in accordance with IS 7686:2020. The material shall be packed in steel drums lined with appropriate polyethylene film unless otherwise agreed upon between the purchaser and the supplier. Each container must be securely closed and clearly labelled with the information as specified in this standard.

Conforming to the requirements of this standard, the product(s) may be certified under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 and the Rules and Regulations framed thereunder, and the products may be marked with the Standard Mark (ISI Mark). The Manufacturer must obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use a standard mark (ISI Mark). The BIS grants a license based on a successful assessment of manufacturing infrastructure, quality control, testing capabilities, and production process.
