Published Date: November 13, 2024 4 min Read

Introduction

IS 1783: Part 2: 2014 is an Indian Standard that defines guidelines for the storage of bulk liquid substances and solid materials in large drums with specified heads, categorized as Grade B, in the chemical, pharmaceutical, food processing, and beverage sectors under BIS Certification. These drums provide safe storage and transportation capacity without compromising quality and safety requirements. The end-use of these drums remains under secure control for a wide range of industries, particularly in wholesale storage and transportation.

It has been linked to the increasing demand for reliable packaging, especially for importing goods to India from foreign manufacturers. In India, BIS certification with the ISI mark is necessary for sales. Foreign manufacturers importing their products to India require BIS certification. Obtaining BIS certification ensures product quality, as companies must pay for BIS certification.
