BIS CERTIFICATION FOR FLEXIBLE PVC PIPES
IS 15265:2003

Flexible PVC pipes or polymer reinforced thermoplastic hoses for suction and delivery lines of agricultural pumps are covered under IS 15265:2003. The Bureau of Indian Standards adopted this Indian Standard after the Civil Engineering Division Council approved the draft finalized by the Plastic Piping System Sectional Committee.

This standard specifies the requirements for flexible PVC pipes or polymer reinforced thermoplastic hoses for agricultural pump suction and delivery lines. This standard's hoses are not used with flammable or combustible materials or aromatic solvents.

The hoses must be made of a flexible thermoplastic material supported in mass by a helix of a similar molecular structure thermoplastic material. The wall's reinforcing and flexible components must be fused and free of visible cracks, porosity, foreign inclusions, or other defects that could cause the hoses to fail in service.

The following tests shall be required for this product:

• Hydrostatic testing
• Pressure impulse test
• Vacuum test
• Reinforcement fracture test
• Loss in mass on heating

The hoses shall be marked as per the requirements of IS 15265:2003. Marking and labeling shall consist of manufacturer identification, nominal bore, batch number.

Each pipe must also be marked with the Standard Mark (ISI Mark). The manufacturer must obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use a standard mark (ISI Mark). The Bureau grants a license based on a successful assessment of manufacturing infrastructure, production process, and quality control and testing capabilities during a visit to its manufacturing premises.

Conclusion:

If a product falls under the scope of the BIS Conformity Assessment Scheme, All the manufacturers, importers, and foreign entities must obtain BIS ISI Certification. The Bureau may cancel the License if the product fails to meet certification requirements.
