BIS CERTIFICATION FOR FORGED ROLLED CTC SEGMENTS
IS 8748:1978

In this competitive scenario, it isn't easy to survive in the market without a standard quality and certified product. BIS license may also be required to sell products in the Indian market.

To get BIS certification and produce a standard quality product, the manufacturer must ensure that their product must follow the specified Indian standard.

Let's take a closer look at IS 8748:1978 for Forged/Rolled CTC Segments.

IS 8748:1978 covers Forged/Rolled CTC Segments. CTC segments are used in CTC machines to produce CTC teas. The product got its name from the manufacturing process: crush, tear and curl. This standard was developed to assist CTC machine manufacturers and estate managers in the use of quality segments.

This standard specifies the requirements for forged/rolled CTC segments. The segments must be made from either nonmagnetic austenite stainless steel or magnetic martensite stainless steel. The chemical compositions must meet any of the grades specified in the standard. The mechanical properties of the steels must meet the requirements specified in the standard. The segments must be machined in the sequence as defined in the standard.
