BIS CERTIFICATION FOR PHOSPHORUS PENTACHLORIDE

IS 11744:1986 covers Phosphorus Pentachloride, Technical. This standard specifies the requirements and sampling and testing methods for Phosphorus pentachloride, technical. Phosphorus pentachloride is primarily used in the production of pharmaceuticals and dyestuffs as a protective chlorinating agent. Phosphorus pentachloride is also used as a catalyst for condensation and cyclization reactions and to improve the grain structure of light metal castings, and as an analytical reagent.
The material must be in the form of pale yellow fine granular powder with an irritating odour that is soluble in carbon disulphide and carbon tetrachloride. When tested in accordance with the methods prescribed, the material must also meet the requirements specified in the standard.

The following test shall be carried out for Phosphorus pentachloride, technical.
- Test for Phosphorus pentachloride
- Bulk density test
Packing and Marking:
Packing and Marking shall be done in accordance with IS 11744:1986. The material must be packed in a polyethylene bag with a minimum thickness of 50 microns before being placed in a mild steel drum or a high-density polyethylene container. Each container must bear the information as specified in the standard.
The ISI mark must be applied to each container, provided that the product so marked meets all of the specification's requirements. The manufacturer must obtain a BIS licence from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use a standard mark (ISI Mark). The BIS issues a licence based on a successful evaluation of the manufacturing infrastructure, quality control, testing capabilities, and manufacturing process.

Conclusion:
