BIS CERTIFICATION FOR SLIPPER RUBBER

In this competitive scenario, it isn't easy to survive in the market without a standard quality and certified product. BIS license may also be required to sell products in the Indian market.

To get BIS certification and produce a standard quality product, the manufacturer must ensure that their product must follow the specified Indian standard.
Let's take a closer look at IS 11544:1986 for slipper, rubber.

Slipper, rubber are covered under IS 11544:1986. This standard specifies the requirements and sampling and testing methods for slippers, rubber of any colour, intended for hospital use, or other light-duty footwear.

The slippers must be made in accordance with the pattern shape and design specified in the standard. Rubber components must be made from suitable compounded natural or synthetic rubber or their blends, with or without the use of reclaimed rubber, and must meet the physical requirements specified in the standard. Materials/components shall conform to requirements as defined in the standard.

Test

The following test shall be carried out for slipper, rubber.

  • Dimension test
  • Flexing resistance test
  • Hardness
  • Relative Density
  • Flexural Endurance

The tests shall be performed on the entire production of the factory covered by this scheme. All production that complies with Indian Standards and is covered by the license should bear the Standard Mark (ISI Mark). The sampling code and conformity criteria shall be as specified in IS 6368:1971.

Each slipper must be labelled with the following information on the waist of the insole cover:

  1. The manufacturer's name or his recognized trade-mark
  2. Size number
  3. Batch/Code Number
  4. Month and year of manufacturer

The IS1 Certification Mark may also be applied to the slippers. A license to use the Standard Mark (ISI Mark) in accordance with IS 11544:1986 is granted. The Manufacturer must obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use a standard mark (ISI Mark). The Bureau grants a license based on a successful assessment of manufacturing infrastructure, production process, and quality control and testing capabilities during a visit to its manufacturing premises.

If a product falls under the scope of the BIS Conformity Assessment Scheme, All the manufacturers, importers, and foreign entities must obtain BIS ISI Certification. The Bureau may cancel the License if the product fails to meet certification requirements.
