BIS CERTIFICATION FOR VINYL ACETATE MONOMER
IS 12345:1988

In this competitive scenario, it isn't easy to survive in the market without a standard quality and certified product. BIS license may also be required to sell products in the Indian market.

To get BIS certification and produce a standard quality product, the manufacturer must ensure that their product must follow the specified Indian standard.

Let's take a closer look at IS 12345:1988 for Vinyl Acetate Monomer.

IS 12345:1988 covers Vinyl Acetate Monomer. The Bureau of Indian Standards adopted this Indian Standard on February 25, 1988, after the Petroleum, Coal, and Related Products Division Council approved the draft finalized by the Organic Chemicals (Miscellaneous) Sectional Committee.

This standard specifies the requirements as well as the sampling and testing methods for vinyl acetate monomer. Vinyl acetate monomers are obtained by reacting acetic acid with acetylene or ethylene in the presence of a catalyst.

The material must be a clear, colorless liquid free of any suspended matter. A suitable amount of stabilizer may be present in the material. The material must also meet the requirements of the standard.

TESTS

The following test shall be carried out in accordance with the method prescribed in the standard.

  • Reagents Test
  • Acidity Test
  • Vinyl Acetate Content Test
  • Hydroquinone Content
  • Diphenyl Amine Content
  • Polymer Content Test

The material shall be packed in mild steel drums or other suitable containers as agreed upon by the purchaser and the supplier. Each container must be tightly closed, and each container must be labelled with the information specified in the standard. The Standard Mark (ISI Mark) may also be applied to the container.

Conforming to the requirements of this standard, the product(s) may be certified under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 and the Rules and Regulations framed thereunder.
