The standard applies to threaded-connected water meters up to a diameter of 50 mm, which measure flow rates ranging from 1.5 to 15 kilolitres per hour, hence suitable for cold drinking water under 1 MPa maximum pressure. These standards include the terminology, construction, and technical details of both piston and turbine types of meters, including magnetic meters also, along with the guidelines for installation and maintenance. The Bureau of Indian Standards or BIS assures the quality and safety of these products for consumers.
