BIS CERTIFICATION FOR HEXAGON HEAD BOLTS AS PER IS 1364 (PART 1): 2018

IS 1364 (Part 1):2018/ISO 4014:2011 specifies the characteristics of hexagon Head bolts with thread sizes ranging from M 1.6 to M64 in product grades A and B. Bolts can also have distinct property classes, as defined by IS 1364 (Part 1):2018/ ISO 4014:2011.

Hexagon head bolts must be designed and manufactured in accordance with Indian standards. It is required to maintain a lab with the necessary equipment, where the various tests outlined in the standard shall be carried out as per the techniques outlined in the standard.

TESTS

The following test shall be carried out as per the method specified in the standard.

• Tensile test
• Proof load test
• Head soundness test
• Torsion test
• Impact test
• Hardness test
• Carburization and decarburization test
• General requirements and other tests

Marking

It is required to label and mark products in compliance with IS 1364 (Part 1):2018. Every piece of manufacturing that complies with Indian Standards and is covered by a BIS license must bear the Standard Mark.

In order to use the standard ISI mark, the manufacturer must first get a BIS license for Hexagon Head Bolts from the Bureau of Indian Standards. Products that fulfill relevant Indian requirements are granted BIS licenses by the Bureau. BIS enables manufacturers to gain consumer trust while continuing to manufacture and sell their products in India.

Conclusion:

If a product falls under the scope of the BIS Conformity Assessment Scheme, All the manufacturers, importers, and foreign entities must obtain BIS ISI Certification. The Bureau may cancel the License if the product fails to meet certification requirements.
