BIS CERTIFICATION FOR ANILINE TECHNICAL
IS 2833:2019

Aniline is widely used in the dye industry, and it serves as the starting material for many azo dyes. It is used in the production of many other intermediates, including acetanilide, acetoacetanilide, aminoazobenene, methyl aniline, diethyl aniline, and methyl aniline.

When freshly distilled, the material should be a transparent oily liquid that is colorless to pale yellow and has a strong characteristic odor. It darkens when stored. The material must also meet the requirements outlined in this standard. A laboratory shall be adequately maintained, in which the various tests shall be carried out according to the methods specified in the standard.

TESTS

Test shall be carried out in accordance with the method specified in this standard.

• Relative density
• Crystallizing Point
• Distillation range
• Assay
• Nitrobenzene content by GC
• Moisture content

Packing and Marking:

Packing and Marking shall be done in accordance with IS 2833:2019. The material must be packed in appropriate drums. Each container must be securely closed and bear the information as specified in this standard. The Standard Mark (ISI Mark) shall be marked on the product's container provided that the material so marked meets the requirements of the specification. The Manufacturer must obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use a standard mark (ISI Mark). The BIS grants a license based on a successful assessment of manufacturing infrastructure, quality control, testing capabilities, and production process.

Conclusion:

If a product falls under the scope of the BIS Conformity Assessment Scheme, All the manufacturers, importers, and foreign entities must obtain BIS ISI Certification. The Bureau may cancel the License if the product fails to meet certification requirements.
