BIS CERTIFICATION FOR CANVAS SHOES WITH RUBBER SOLE

Canvas Shoes, Rubber sole are covered under IS 3735:1996. The Bureau of Indian Standards adopted this Indian Standard (Second Revision) after the Footwear Sectional Committee's final draft was approved by the Chemical Division Council.

This standard specifies the requirements, sampling and testing methods for canvas shoes with a rubber sole and heel that are intended for general use, games, sports, physical training. These are also known as PT shoes.

Canvas shoes must be made from materials that meet the specifications specified in IS3735:1996. The shoes shall be made in accordance with the design and pattern agreed upon between the purchaser and the supplier. Shoes must be sized and fitted as per IS 1638: 1969.

A laboratory shall be maintained, suitably equipped and staffed, in which the various tests specified in the specification shall be carried out as per the methods defined in the specification.

Tests: The following major test shall be carried out for canvas shoes.

  • Adhesion Test
  • Consolidation Test
  • Tensile test
  • Dimension test

All production that complies with Indian standards and is covered by the licence should bear the Standard Mark (ISI Mark). The shoe size, manufacturer's name or trademark, as well as the year of supply and month and year of manufacture must be legibly stamped on the insole face cover's waist. The Manufacturer must obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use a standard mark (ISI Mark). The BIS grants a license based on a successful assessment of manufacturing infrastructure, quality control and testing capabilities, and production process.

If a product falls under the scope of the BIS Conformity Assessment Scheme, All the manufacturers, importers, and foreign entities must obtain BIS ISI Certification. The Bureau may cancel the License if the product fails to meet certification requirements.
