BIS Certification for Cold Rolled Non-oriented Electrical Steel Sheets And Strip-fully Processed Type (CRNO) IS 648
Cold Rolled Non-oriented Electrical Steel Sheets and Strip-fully Processed Type (CRNO) are critical materials used in the manufacturing of electrical devices such as transformers, motors, and generators. These steel sheets are specially processed to have uniform magnetic properties in all directions, which enhances the efficiency of magnetic flux within electrical machines. The cold rolling process provides a smooth surface finish and tight dimensional tolerances, improving the performance and reliability of the electrical components. CRNO steel sheets are valued for their high permeability, low core loss, and excellent electrical conductivity, making them essential for energy-efficient and high-performance electrical applications.
Importance of BIS Certification
BIS certification is necessary for Cold Rolled Non-oriented Electrical Steel Sheets and Strip-fully Processed Type (CRNO) to ensure they meet stringent quality and safety standards set by the Bureau of Indian Standards. This certification guarantees that CRNO sheets possess the required magnetic properties, dimensional accuracy, and electrical performance critical for their use in electrical machinery. Adhering to BIS standards ensures the reliability and efficiency of transformers, motors, and generators, enhancing their operational lifespan and energy efficiency. Compliance with BIS certification fosters consumer trust, supports regulatory alignment, and promotes the use of high-quality materials in the electrical industry, thereby contributing to safer and more efficient electrical infrastructure.
Indian Standard IS 648:2006
As per the latest Quality Control Order (QCO) issued by the Ministry of Steel, Government of India, on 5th February 2024, Cold Rolled Non-oriented Electrical Steel Sheets and Strip-fully Processed Type (CRNO) must adhere to the Indian Standard IS 648:2006. This standard ensures that CRNO sheets and strips meet essential quality and safety criteria, including the required magnetic properties, dimensional accuracy, and electrical performance. Compliance with IS 648:2006 guarantees that these materials are manufactured to precise specifications, ensuring their reliability and efficiency in applications such as transformers, motors, and generators. Adhering to this standard is crucial for manufacturers to align with regulatory guidelines, maintain product consistency, and foster consumer trust in the quality and performance of electrical steel products.
