BIS CERTIFICATION FOR RUBBERSEED FATTY ACIDS

There will be two types of material: soft and hard. The soft type shall be a distilled form of rubberseed fatty acid. The fatty acid of rubberseed oil obtained by hydrogenation either before or after distillation shall be considered hard type.

The material shall be produced by distilling crude rubberseed fatty acid, which is obtained by splitting rubberseed oil. A minimum flash point is required if a solvent is used to produce oil or fatty acid. The material shall be free from sediments, contaminants, suspended and other foreign matter, and separated water. It shall be clear on melting. The material shall also meet the requirements given in the standard.

The following tests shall be carried out as per the method specified in the standard.

• Test for free mineral acidity
• Determination of ash

Packing and marking

Packing and marking shall be done as per IS 12124:1987. The material must be packed in suitable containers. The containers must be securely closed and marked with the name and grade of the material, net mass, batch number or lot number, month and year of manufacture, and the manufacturer's name and trade mark. The container may also be marked with the standard mark (ISI Mark).

The manufacturer must obtain a BIS license for Rubberseed Fatty Acids from the Bureau of Indian Standards to use a standard mark (ISI Mark). BIS will grant a license after successfully assessing manufacturing infrastructure, processes, quality control, and testing capabilities during a visit to manufacturing premises.
