BIS Raid on Cattle Feed Manufacturer
BIS has caught non-licensed cattle feed manufacturer in J&K. BIS raided J&K Factories and found that the manufacturers produce cattle feed illegally without a BIS license. BIS JKBO is taking action against the offenders as per the Bureau of Indian Standards Act of 2016. According to the BIS Act 2016, manufacturing cattle feeds without a BIS license is an illegal and punishable offense, and there is a provision of a fine of 2 lakh or two years imprisonment, or both.
Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office successfully conducted an Enforcement Search and Seizure operation at M/s AB Industries J&K., Significant quantities of non-ISI, marked Cattle Feed were seized during the raid at M/s AB Industries, where non-ISI Cattle Feed was being manufactured and packed.
FSSAI has made it mandatory for commercial feed/feed materials to comply with the relevant BIS standards. It can only be manufactured, imported, distributed, and sold with the BIS Certification Mark. Therefore, to sell cattle feed into the Indian market and use the ISI mark, all cattle feed manufacturers must obtain a BIS license from the Bureau of Indian Standards as per IS 2052:2009.
IS 2052: 2009 specifies the requirements and the sampling and testing methods for compounded cattle feeds for buffaloes, cattle, and working bullocks.
It has frequently been observed that fake/non-ISI-marked products are produced and sold to regular consumers for a huge profit, putting their health and safety at risk. Therefore, Customers are advised only to buy genuine ISI Marked products. To protect consumer interests, BIS is further planning to crack down on manufacturing facilities that produce products without the ISI mark.
